The AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping is an introductory qualification designed to give learners a solid foundation in basic bookkeeping skills. What you will learn
During this course, you’ll gain a clear understanding of the basic principles of bookkeeping and develop practical skills you can apply immediately. Topics include:
Understand the responsibilities of a bookkeeper and their importance in supporting business finances.
Learn how to identify and record basic financial transactions accurately.
Understand how to process sales and purchases using common documents like invoices and credit notes.
Record money coming in and out of a business, including cash, bank, and card transactions.
Discover how digital tools help manage finances, along with potential risks and the importance of secure data handling.
How you will be assessed
Assessment is through a computer based exam which you will take at the end of the course.
Progression opportunities
Once you have successfully passed the AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping you can progress onto AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. This qualification can also open doors to entry-level positions like trainee bookkeeper, accounts administrator or assistant cashier.
Entry requirements
Before enroling you will need to complete a short assessment to make sure this course is suitable for you. The session will last for around 2 hours, you will watch a short presentation on our AAT offer, followed by a short assessment in English and Maths.
