Course information

If you're considering a career as a registered childminder or want to work in a home-based childcare setting, this course offers the ideal foundation. The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare provides the knowledge required to set up a home-based childcare service and supports understanding of the role and responsibilities of a home-based childcare provider. It’s suitable for new learners and those already caring for children who want to formalise their training.

The course covers a wide range of topics including safeguarding, health and safety, child development and running a childcare business from home. You will also explore the importance of play, partnership with parents and the legal requirements involved in becoming a registered childcare provider. Learning takes place in a supportive classroom environment, with guidance from experienced tutors who will help you build the confidence and practical understanding needed to work independently or as part of a home-based team.

Whether you aim to register as a childminder or support other home-based childcare services, this qualification gives you the knowledge and tools to do so professionally and safely.
