I chose the latter and took a minicab to Whipps Cross Hospital.
Unfortunately, my blood test came back positive for the superbug MRSA. That was good because they and I knew what was wrong. I spent 6 days in hospital before I was discharged home. I was given 2 types of antibiotics because the first 4 days were not effective intravenously. The 2nd one turned out to be good and worked immediately.
I kept the boots as a reminder that I didn't die of bacterial infection. My partner stayed by my side and didn't leave me. There was also the possibility of losing my leg. We are still together for better and for worse for 11 years now.
